My First Day Ramadhan

Tup tup arini dah masuk hari ke-2 kita berpuasa. Alhamdulillah, yesterday I managed to berpuasa sampai waktu berbuka. I know it was easy for some of you guys, but not for me. I'll feel tired and sometimes rasa nak pitam especially around 3 to 5pm. And kadang2 bila time berbuka pon dah tak larat nk telan ape2. Alhamdulillah I managed to get thru those times.

This year, is my 3rd year fasting with my beloved hubby and 3rd year also with my lil one (tapi 1st year tu Arsyad still dlm perut mama..hehe). During my pregnancy, I dun have any problem berpuasa. Oooppss~ ade jgk tinggal puasa 4 hari coz sgt2 tak larat sampai tgn pon terketar2, rase mcm dh low blood pressure. Coz of worried about my baby, so I berbuka. What to do kan. But, Alhamdulillah takde la tinggal puasa byk sgt.

And then last year was my 2nd year, and it was much more challenging than the previous year coz I was fully breastfeeding him. He was 9 months old at that time. Alhamdulillah I puasa penuh that year coz I still tak period at that time. At first I thought its gonna be tough to go thru all day long without eating anything. First few days maybe a bit challenging, but then you'll get use to it. Just dun forget to wake up for your sahur, drinks a lot of water during the night and sahur and eat a lot of kurma. It really helps. At that time, my son will ask for milk one in 2 hours time. So, just imagine berapa litre my body needs water.

So this year, baru 2 hari so takle nk ckp sgt. Still challenging with this 1 and 1/2 month old boy. I'm still breastfeeding him and mind you, he still drink a lot of milk coz he doesn't eat much. And, much more tiring coz running here and there playing with him. Alhamdulillah, day one is over. And Alhamdulillah also, I'm able to recite Al-Quran without any interruptions from my boy. He is really behave everytime I wanna perform my solat and recite the Al-Quran. So, harap2 bley khatam at least once in this Ramadhan and hopefully I can perform my tarawikh as well. So far so good.

Being a stay at home mom is quite challenging when it comes to Ramadhan. I still can remember, during my working days few years back, I didn't feel hungry at all (dahla tak sahur) and time flies really fast. Sedar2 dah balik keje, then nak berbuka. Skrg rase mcm lambat je masa berlalu (tahun lepas I rase mcmtu this year tak dah sbb Arsyad dh besar, so byk main2 ngan dia..hehe). But then the thing that I love is, I have lots of time to muhasabah diri, do more Ibadah and I really appreciate the Ramadhan itself. Alhamdulillah, syukur :-)

Understanding Your Skin

Just wanna share this interesting info about our skin, so that we can take a really good care of it.. This article is basically tell us what are the causes that make our skin to be oily, dehydrated or sensitive. So, when you know why, then you can actually find the correct way to protect it. :-)

Our skin is our first line of defence against dehydration, infection, injuries and extremes of temperature. It combines strength with elasticity to help resist knocks and shocks. The skin can be up to 5m thick but this varies over the body. The thickest areas are the palms and soles and the thinnest are the eyelids - just 0.3mm thick.

Our skin is made up of layers - and upper layer of epidermis, and a lower layer of dermis. Below the dermis is the subcutaneous layer, containing fat and connective tissue, which shapes and cushions the body.

The epidermis

The top layer of the epidermis are made up of dry, tightly knit cells filled with keratin, a fibrous protein (also found in hair and nails) that protects the skin and stops it drying out. These cells can absorb about 5 times their weight of water and swell to 3 times their original thickness.

The epidermis works ceaselessly to regenerate itself. The cells are born in the lowest layer of epidermis and migrate upwards for about 2 weeks, during which time they flatten out and die. Eventually, the upper layer of dead cells is shed from the surface. 2 to 3 billions of skin cells are shed everyday (they make up a substantial percentage of household dust).

The spaces between the epidermal cells are packed with natural fats (lipids). These fats help the top layer of dead skin cells regulate natural water loss. If they are removed by harsh soaps or detergents, or damaged by sunburn, the skin losses some of its ability to retain water and easily dries out.

The dermis

The base layer, the dermis, is mainly composed of a network of protein fibres; collagen and elastin. Collagen gives skin its strength and elastin keeps the skin supple and resilient. Collagen and elastin fibres are damaged by the effects of ageing, free radicals, pollutants, such as tobacco smoke and UV light.

By the age of 40, almost half the elastin present at birth is lost, resulting in lines, wrinkles and thin, sagging skin. The dermis houses the hair follicles, from which new hair is made and sensory nerve receptors, responsible for the sense of touch, heat, cold and pain. It is also rich in tiny blood and lymph vessels to provide oxygen and nutrients for cell growth and repair and removes wastes.

Sweat and oil glands

Within the dermis are the sweat and sebaceous glands, whose secretions reach the surface through tiny openings or pores. Sweat glands mainly regulate temperature.

Sebaceous glands produce an oily secretion called sebum, which lubricates and waterproofs the skin and helps prevent moisture loss. Sebaceous glands are most concentrated on the scalp and face - particularly around the nose, cheeks, chin and forehead; hence these are usually the oiliest areas. Sebum production can increase temporarily during stress, before your period and around the menopause. As we get older we tend to produce less sebum and the skin becomes drier.

The acid mantle

Skin and hair are protected by a thin sticky fluid, the acid mantle formed from sebum, sweat and acidic secretions produced by skin 'good' bacteria such as Staphylococcus epidermis. The acid mantle created a hostile environment for 'bad' bacteria, which prefer an alkaline environment.

Any disruption to the acid mantle - e.g. : excess sunlight, poor diet, alkaline skin products and harsh soap - interferes with the protective outer layer of the skin and strips away the acid mantle. This leads to dehydration, roughness and irritation. Skin is left defenceless and susceptible to microbial invasion.

The normal acid mantle for skin and hair has a pH between 4.0 and 5.9. Once the pH rises above 6.5, bacterial invasion increases dramatically. Excess sunlight, poor diet, excessive sweating and strongly alkaline skin/hair products, soap or detergents can easily strip away the acid mantle. Citric and lactic acid are often incorporated into personal care products to help lower their pH and make them 'pH balanced'.

Arsyad and Lightning McQueen

One of Arsyad's favorite movie is Cars, and his favorite of coz Lightning McQueen. His papa did buy him the McQueen car toy and he was so damn excited about it. Nak tido, nak mandi, Lightning McQueen mesti  ada kat tangan. Hhhaaiishh~ But then, the Lightning McQueen was gone. I think he accidentally dropped it at the Giant, during our groceries shopping.

McQueen dlm kenangan.. hehe

Since then, we didn't buy another McQueen for him coz he already has lots and lots of cars. Till papa saw something when we went to Carrefour, Kota Damansara. At first, I didn't bother to go inside the shop and look at it. But then pikir2 balik, layan je la. haha. Papa did ask the sales person whether they had any Cars character instead of Thomas, Bob the Builder, Mickey Mouse and lots more. They simply said no, tapi belek-belek ade plak. Nampak sgt tak tau main jwb je takde. Even Arsyad excitedly shouted "car, car" when he saw Lightning McQueen. hehe.

It is not a toy.. just a small carpet.. hehe

We put it in our room first coz he rarely wanted to play in his room. He likes to play with this McQueen. Siap baring kiss2 lg McQueen tu. And sometimes when he wanted to go out, he will say good bye to it. It was so damn funny. Hahaha. Kadang2 taktau la ape dia ckp ngan McQueen tu. Siap tunduk2 and tunjuk kat McQueen the toy yang dia pegang. :-)

lompat-lompat tgk cars..

abaikan brg2 yg bersepah tu yer.. :P

Scary or Funny???

Watch this.. Is it funny to you or scary?? Hahaha.. Giler psiko minah tu.. mcm cite Ju-On pon ade..

Macam-macam manusia dlm dunia nih.. hehe

Mari Conteng-Conteng..

It was quite some time I didn't do any coloring or scribbling activity with my lil one. I'm totally forgot about it. Coz the last time I let him do it, he was over doing it. I don't want to scold at him, so I just kept the drawing block and pencil colors in the drawer. I was so damn tired to say the same thing everytime we did the activity; "Arsyad, jangan baling.. put it back here", "Arsyad, do it on the paper,  not on the floor", "Arsyad, don't put it in your mouth".. Semua ada JANGAN, DON'T and NO. Sabar je la kan. Nak buat camane, kdg2 automatic kuar dari mulut. hahaha.

Btw, tonight I'm giving him the opportunity to play with the color pencils and drawing block. Do whatever he wants as long as he didn't color it on my wall. He was so damn excited when I took it out from the drawer. Siap clap his hands, jumping all over the place and talking excitedly eventho I didn't understand a single word. Haha. I become excited too when looking at his cheeky and happy face. So, we did the coloring together. He picked one color then start coloring and scribbling. Then, I'll tell him what was the color. The activity went well just for few minutes. Haha. Then he started to throw all the color pencils, but then pandai plak put it back in the box. Ape-ape la arsyad, janji u have fun kay baby.. :-)

try to take out the color pencils..

tak main kuarkan satu2, kuarkan byk trus..haha

A Trip to Aquaria, KLCC

It was a loooonnngg time ago we went to Aquaria, KLCC - before we got married to be exact. This time around, we went together with my bro and family (last time pon I temankan jgk.. haha). It was a bit different I guess. Maybe more insect or fishes this time. Hehe. And, there was a feeding time show to piranhas for everyone. Too bad we're heading back home already at that time. Btw,  the fee is still the same RM35 for adult with MyKad and RM25 for children with MyKid.

Arsyad was very excited looking at all the fishes. And now, everytime he sees water or fountain, he will say "tish"; well it means fish actually. Hehe.
